‘Kensa’ was designed by Simon Holman and built by Cat and Simon Holman to work as a sail and oar fishing boat. She is 18ft 6″ (5.6m) long and carries a lug rigged mainsail and mizzen.
We launched her in Portscatho in August 2012, making her the first new fishing boat to be built in the village for nearly fifty years. You can read about the build here.
She has no engine, so we sail or row everywhere, adapting our rig and fishing techniques to the constraints of the weather and tide. Depending on the wind direction, ‘Kensa’ is moored either in Portscatho or up the nearby Percuil River.
